Mesa Harmony Garden was an Approved UCCE Master Gardener Project
Master Gardeners, certified by the UC Cooperative Extension program, used to provide an Information Table at the garden every 1st Saturday (10am to 12noon), and volunteer at the garden to assist and mentor other volunteers and to further Mesa Harmony Garden's remit to be an educational resource for the community.

These donors have all given generously of time, money and resources:

The Insurance Professionals of Santa Barbara have now contributed a total of $3700 since the garden was established, including two separate awards totaling $2,500 in 2019. Many thanks to Michelle Saake and the other members of this group for their commitment to supporting the continuing development of Mesa Harmony Garden as a space for community-building activities, and a teaching resource for local schools and college students.

Both Tony De Mola and John Huddleston of Bartlett Tree Experts have donated their time, expertise and specialized equipment when we've needed urgent work on the big pine trees at the top of the garden. On several occasions they advised us on the work needed and came back promptly to remove the limbs that might represent a risk.

Many thanks to the Mesa Business Association for supporting us from the proceeds of Mesa Music Nites BBQ sales in 2019!

Arbor Services donated their time and expertise on numerous occasions to carry out essential trimming work on the two large Aleppo pine trees that provide much needed shade for garden events and activities.

Under the leadership of Mesa Harmony Garden Board Member Josh Kane, the local Mesa office of Edward Jones has been a generous supporter of the garden.

Fred Hunter of Dreamscape Santa Barbara is a licensed landscape contractor and permaculture designer who has given generously of his time and expertise to the Garden. Fred’s contribution to the design and installation of our rainwater catchment systems has been particularly important.

The Fund awarded $3,500 in 2012 to Mesa Harmony Garden’s project to achieve Self-Sustainability, supporting the transition of the Garden to a fully self-sustaining food forest by funding the expertise needed to safely and effectively capture rainwater and store it in the land, significantly reducing the need for watering.

Lazy Acres donated 12 fruit trees... Including 2 Mexican Lime Trees, 3 Blueberry bushes, 4 tangerine and three orange trees.

The Mesa Paper has been a great supporter of the Garden from the very start, and makes space in every issue for our very own Mesa Harmony Garden monthly column.

Mike Richardson Realtors matched dollar for dollar all the donations we received at the Mesa SpringFest in 2011 - giving matched funds is a great way to boost giving, and will help feed those in need long after the money is actually spent.

Picture
Loren Luyendyk from Santa Barbara Organics has been a tremendous help to the garden.  Through his incredible water saving landscape design and many hours of work on the bobcat, he has really helped make our job easier in the long run.

Picture

LRQA Business Assurance, through the Food Bank of Santa Barbara County,  made the original donation that allowed us to buy our first 85 fruit trees.

Milpas Rental, thanks to the inspiration of The Mesa Paper, provided us the heavy equipment necessary to get the project underway. In exchange for free advertizing in the Mesa Paper, they let us use their Skip Loader and Bobcat to dig out water-catchment swales, saving us unimaginable labor - a back saver!

Other Donors

Renate Franquet and many other community members have supported the garden.

The following local businesses all donated food and drink to help us celebrate important anniversaries and the hard work and dedication of our loyal band of volunteers. Thank you!
